Winner of the 2009 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition and member of the prestigious Bolshoi Theatre, Ekaterina Scherbachenko is one of the most talented lyric sopranos of her generation.

At the Bolshoi, her roles have included Natasha Rostova in War and Peace, Mimi in La Boheme, Liu in Turandot, Tatiana in Onegin, Micaela in Carmen and the title role of Iolanta.

Outside her native Russia, Ekaterina Scherbachenko has appeared on tour with the Bolshoi at the Opéra de Paris (Palais Garnier) and at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. She has also performed at the Opéra de Lyon and the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.

On the concert podium, she has sung with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the St.-Petersburg Philharmonic orchestra at the Ravenna Festival.

In upcoming seasons, Miss Scherbachenko will make her debut at La Scala in Milan as Liu in a Turandot, conducted by Valery Gergiev, as well as in a new production of the same opera at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich under the direction of Zubin Mehta. She will also debut at the Metropolitan Opera in the role of Micaela and the Opera de Monte-Carlo in the role of Tatyana
