Praised by New York Times for "his incredible wealth of tone colours and his sound of melting beauty, " internationally acclaimed Belgian violinist, Michael Guttman, was, at age ten, the youngest student ever to be admitted into the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels. Encouraged by the late Isaac Stern, Guttman studied at the Juilliard School in New York under Dorothy Delay.
As a violinist he has toured as a soloist with The London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Philharmonia and has been invited to play with other acclaimed musicians such as Salvatore Accardo, Natalya Guttman, Boris Berezovsky, Ivry Gitlis, Martha Arguerich, among others. He has played at the London's Barbican Hall, New York's Avery Fisher Hall, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Paris’ Salle Pleyel, to name just a few. His recordings of 20th Century violin concertos have received critical acclaim and been broadcast by the BBC to over 100 countries.
He has led the Belgian chamber orchestra, the "I Fiamminghi" chamber orchestra, as well as the Arriaga string quartet for the last 20 years. Mr. Guttman is also Music Director of the Music Festival of the Hamptons, and Music Director of the Atlantic Chamber Orchestra.
Mr. Guttman is also Artistic Director of the Brussels Chamber Orchestra since 2007, and founder and director of the Pietrasanta Music Festival in Italy where he tours regularly, appearing recently in the prestigious Ferrara Musica series and at the Palazzo Reale in Milano.
